Multi Graphics - Mississauga Printer Answer Your Print Questions |

Q. Which process should I use for my project – offset or digital?
A. If you have a short run project, digital is the way to go. If your project requires stock that is not conducive to digital or you have a higher quantity, choose offset. The difference is that digital printing does not require plates, so the initial set-up is more affordable. If you’re in doubt, give us a call, we won’t steer you wrong.

Q. What’s the difference between offset and digital printing?
A. Offset printing is a technique where ink is transferred from a plate to a blanket, which then gets transferred to the printing surface. Digital is a plateless system that transfers the image to the substrate.

Q. What is process colour?
A. Process colour, CMYK, and full colour is “four colour process printing.” The four colour process is based on mixing pigments of the four base colours. Full-color printing is the dominant method of printing and is capable of reproducing a full range of colour, required for reproducing colour photographs in magazines, brochures and sometimes business cards.

Q. What are Pantone colours?
A. The Pantone Matching system is a standard ink colour referencing system that is used to print spot colours. The Pantone system allows for colours such as fluorescents and metallics. Pantone colours are often used in stationery printing or as an accent colour when printing in process.

Q. How long is the turnaround time for an order?
A. Turnaround time for large format, printing, and promotional products is usually within 3 to 8 days, depending on the details of the order. Turnaround time for copying is usually the next day. Rush services are available. Please contact us to discuss your specific project.

Q. What does “full bleed” mean?
A. Full bleed means that the ink touches the edge of the paper. Printers do not print full bleed, so we print on oversized stock and trim off the excess. In order to print “full bleed,” the ink coverage must exceed the final print dimensions.

Q. What kind of file formats do you accept?
A. High resolution PDF files are best. We also accept all industry standard artwork files from both MAC and PC. Check out our Download Support area for more information.

Q. How can I create a rich black area on a four colour job?
A. To create a rich black add 40% cyan.

Q. When setting up a pocket folder, would I make my page size 9” x 12”?
A. A traditional pocket folder, folds down to 9” x 12”. When setting up a pocket folder you should use the unfolded flat size as your document. See our template section for a traditional sized folder to use as a guideline.

Q. Can you quote on items that are not listed?
A. Absolutely! Customized orders are our bread and butter and one of the things that sets us apart from our competitors. Give us a call or send an email and we can talk about it.

Q. What is your turn around time for an estimate?
